WALTER HICKS JR.

Walter “Eugene” Hicks Jr., was 38 when he died. He attended and graduated from Kansas City, Mo., Public schools.

Life took Eugene in many directions, but his children held his heart, and they meant the world to him. His goal was to become the best version of himself so that he would be the best father to his boys. He loved them with an unconditional love and desired to give them the world.

On his path to becoming a better man and father he found his passion and career as an over the road truck driver and was employed with Systems Transport. He was a huge gamer and absolutely loved bowling and bowled competitively for 10 years.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mt. Ararat Missionary church and was committed to the youth ministry.

He had his own vocabulary using words such as “Hustleno”, “Boss Made”, and his signature line, “I’m on my grind.”

He is survived by his mother, LeTrenda Patterson; his dad, Dimitri “Mechie” (Dana) Milligan; father, Walter “Chuck” Hicks Sr.; sons, Keyvonte Hudson and Jase Hicks both of Kansas City; sisters, Gabrielle (Corey) Phillips, of Gilliam, Mo., Aubrie (Steven) McAfee of Kansas City, Mo., and Meechala (Ukuphenduka) Milligan, of California; maternal grandmother, Donna Patterson of Kansas City; maternal grandfather, Joseph (Clara) Anderson Sr.; nephews, Dimori, Gabriel, Remiel, Zikri, Mika’el, and Aziel; one niece, Adyiah, of Gilliam Mo.; his aunts, Tammie (Damon) Southall, Ericka Anderson, Erin Anderson, Taloura (George) Randolph, and Sonvanyetta McHenry; and uncles, Joseph (Brenda) Anderson Jr., Damieon (Tami) Patterson, Robin (Robin) Milligan, Kim (Rose) Milligan.

Services for Walter Hicks Jr., were held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Serenity Funeral home, 1101 E. Bannister Road, Kansas City, Mo.

Interment, XII Gates Memorial Gardens.
