CHARLES CONNER

Charles H. Conner died on June 23, 2022, in Kansas City, Mo. He was born on November 2, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo., to the union of Imogene and Joseph Conner who both preceded him in death.

He attended schools on military bases and the Kansas City, Mo., School district where he graduated from Southeast High school 1975, in Kansas City, Mo.

He was a certified Electrician, worked at the old Hyper Mart and Peterson Manufacturing in Grandview, Mo. After returning from his deployment to Iraq, he returned home and was employed as a Security Guard for various companies. He retired from all work after serving his country for 32 years with the Coast Guard and the Army.

Conner was a member of the Past Master Eureka #170, Past Patron Elect Ladies OES, member of Mt. Oread #6, Thrice Potent Master of the Royal RASM W Mm.Reynolds Council, member of KC 45 RASM, Commander of Far West Commandry Knights Templer, Past CIC of KC Consistory #7 AASR, American Legion Post #149 and currently serves as Asst. Grand Marshall Most Worshipful Prince Hall of Missouri F&AM, PHA.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Leslie Conner; son, Charles Conner Jr., both of Kansas City, Mo;, two daughters, Erica Pope of Kansas City, Mo., Kristin Mahone of Atchison, Kas.; sisters, Ruth Ann Jones of Columbia, Mo., JoAnn Conner of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Larry Conner (Billie) of Kansas City, Mo.; aunt, Jacqueline Sullivan of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.

Service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11 a.m., at the St. James United Methodist church, 5540 Wayne Ave., Kansas City, Mo.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Interment, Leavenworth National cemetery, 850 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, Kas.

Karen Eileen was born on October 17, 1956, to the union of Russell and Venora Wilson.

She was born and raised in Kansas City, Mo., along with her siblings, they were known as the “Wilson Girls” and growing up Karen most often was the strong-minded hell raiser of the bunch.

Her parents, Russell and Venora Wilson; her brothers, Roderick M. and Rodney R. Harris; a son, Michael C. Lee; and sisters, Carlisa Y. Wilson, and Eve L. Hayes, preceded her in death.

She graduated from Paseo High school in 1975, where she was a member of the Black and Gold Drill Team. After high school, she attended college for a short while. After college, she held various jobs where she worked at Tension Envelop, J.C. Penney, and Woodbridge, in positions such as production line worker, customer service, and cashier.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching movies and cooking shows, playing cards and board games with her family. At the encouragement of her aunt, Venethia, Karen starting bowling very early as a young adult and was part of her aunt’s traveling bowling team for many years. She continued to bowl and remained employed until her health got the best of her.

For the past several years she has resided in a LT care facility. While there, she was a continual winner in the facilities Bingo games. She became known for giving her signature ‘finger’ gesture whenever someone tried to capture her in a picture. This part of her legacy has been passed down to her son, DeRon, who also lovingly displays her signature “finger” gesture in pictures.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, twins, DeRon L. Long and Solette J. Long, and Leon E.R. Lee; her grandchildren, DeAricka Miles, Mi’Kel Lee, Joyce Parker, Michael Lee, Messiah Lee, Mika Lee, Jerome Gurly, Leon “Trey” Lee, TaLeona Lee, Jordan Webb, Tarrance Blanton, Cherrish Shaw, Mellody Shaw, twins Remedi and Royal Jones; sisters: Janine Wilson, Anita Wilson and Sheila Goodwin; aunts, Vernell Scott and Veloris Allen, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Services for Ms. Lee will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at 11 a.m., at the E .S. Eley & Sons Funeral chapel.

Friends may call from 9 a.m., until service time Friday at the chapel.
