BOBBY HOWARD MARQUETTE MORGAN JAMES WYATT THOMAS SHELTON Forest

Rose Marie Tate died on May 21, 2022, at the Hospice house in North Kansas City. She was born on May 25, 1947, to the parents of Lecester Carter and Markus Johnson in Boley, Okla.

She was educated in the Kansas City, Mo., School system at Attucks Elementary, Lincoln Junior High school and Venice High school in Venice, Cal. Later she furthered her education as a nurse.

She was loving and sharp witted and she enjoyed having prayer with her sister every day until she was unable. She will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Herman Tate; five siblings, Delores Annetta, Glen Dora, Lenora, Donald, Leroy; two children, Marilyn and Dwayne.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Lashell Turner, Kevin Bowen (Desire); sister, Melva Calbert; grandchildren; great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Private Disposition. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral chapel.

Bobby Howard, 67, died on May 19, 2022. He was born in Shreveport, La., on August 6, 1954, to I.S. Howard and Dorothy Mae Quarles. He was the eldest of five children.

He moved to Kansas City in the late 1960s with his mother, his brother, Ray Howard and his step-father, Jerry Thomas. He was educated in the Kansas City, Mo., School district where he attended Lincoln High school. He was a hard worker who believed in providing for his family and he worked as a sales clerk at the Park Parade convenience store until his retirement.

He was united in marriage to LaTanya Smalls and to this union, one child LaPasha Howard was born. His ongoing battle with health issues in recent years showed his courage while facing life’s challenges. Despite his pain, he stayed strong until the end. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, his brother and his step-daughter, Evonne Smalls-Cruz.

He leaves to cherish and continue his legacy his wife, LaTanya Howard; his children, Jenel Brock of Lee’s Summit, and LaPasha Howard of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Amethyst Brock, Mar’Kwaijah White and Marcus White; great-grandson, Antwine Webb; one stepson and three stepdaughters; three sisters Janet Jones, Dorothy Jean Thomas, and Mary Bass all of Kansas City, Mo. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Graveside service was on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Memorial Park cemetery.

Marquette Morgan, 91, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother cousin, and friend died on May 13, 2022.

She was born on August 1, 1930, in Muskogee, Okla., to George Martin and Faustina Parker Martin. The eldest of six and only girl, she was raised in Muskogee and Porter, Okla., with her five brothers, George Jr., Jimmie Martin, Tommie Miller, Henry Dean and Jack Dean.

She attended school in both Porter and Muskogee, Okla. She accepted Christ at an early age. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Palestine Missionary Baptist church.

In 1951, she moved to Kansas City, Kas., and later to Kansas City, Mo., (in 1956) with former spouse Harvey Mills Jr. This former union blessed her with five children, Thomas (Tem), Linda, Laura, Gladys and Karen. Her union to husband William Morgan expanded her family to include stepsons, Dustin, Justin, Brandon and Isaiah Morgan.

Mrs. Morgan was a gifted seamstress and quilter; throughout her life she enjoyed serving her many clients. She also had a heart for education; serving as a Scout Leader, Health Chairman at her children’s junior high school and was an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) member. Her career spanned working for companies such as Western Electric and Sam Walton’s Warehouse; she concluded her professional career with the Kansas City, Mo., School district as a teacher’s assistant.

Upon retirement, she moved to Europe living with her youngest daughter and sonin-law in Germany. During her time living in Europe, she enjoyed traveling to Amsterdam, France and Italy. Upon returning stateside, she spent time residing in Palestine, Texas, Kansas City, Mo., Sun City, Ariz., and Tulsa, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda J. Lucas; brothers, George Martin Jr., Jimmie Martin, Henry Dean Sr., and Jack Dean.

Left to cherish memories are her husband, William Morgan; son, Tem Mills of Fairfield, Cal., Laura Harris of Flemington, N. J., Gladys (Michael) Cleaver, and Karen West (and son-in-law, Curtis) of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Tommie Miller of Oakland, Cal.; grandchildren, Michelle (Ricky) Jones of Surprise, Ariz., Renata Mills of Portland, Ore., Dionne (Daniel) Jones, of Kansas City, Mo., Tonya (Anthony) Crompton, of Kansas City, Mo., Nakedra (Dwayne) Campbell, of Spring,Texas, Jarod Lucas, Curtis West, Keiyana West, all of Kansas City, Mo.; along with numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 26, at the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ.

Interment, Memorial Park cemetery.

James E. Wyatt died on Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was born in Lamar County, Miss., on February 22, 1934, to the union of John Wyatt Sr., and Marie Vera Wyatt. He was the fourth of seven sons born to this union.

His parents and six brothers, John Wyatt, Douglas Wyatt, Eugene Wyatt, Carl Wyatt, Billy Wyatt and Bernard Wyatt all preceded him in death.

He moved to Hattiesburg (Forrest County), Miss., at an early age and attended Eureka Elementary and Middle school. He attended Royal Street High school, later renamed Rowan High school. After high school he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served for four years. After leaving the Army he returned back to Hattiesburg to be with his family.

Wyatt later moved to Kansas City, Mo., and began working for Braniff Air Lines at the Kansas City International Airport for many years. He later worked at the Holiday Inn and H. B. Fuller Adhesive Manufacturing company.

On November 19, 1963 he was united in marriage to the former Cloree Williams, there were no children born to this union. She also preceded him in death.

He was a faithful member of the Fellowship Baptist church until his health began to fail. He was a loving uncle and was greatly loved by his nephews and nieces, he had a nickname for each one of them. He will be greatly missed by all.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Jean Anderson, his special lady for many years who cared for him and was by his side every day until he passed away; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Jean Wyatt and Doris Wyatt; nephews, Billy Wyatt (Charity) and Alfred Wyatt Jr. (Theiann); many special nieces, church family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11 a.m., at the Fellowship Baptist church.

Interment, Tuesday, May 31, at 12:30 p.m., Forest Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Deacon Thomas Shelton died on May 18, 2022.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11 a.m., at the Prince Peace Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ.

Interment,

Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
