Kansas City Filmmaker Creates A New Superhero With Locally Produced TV Series

Kansas City native Victor Wilson Jr. is proof that homegrown talent thrives in familiar markets. Wilson, CEO of Pudgy Entertainment, Inc. will premiere his debut episode of his new series, RETURN OF

THE SHIHAN; the first installment of a superhero, martial arts comedy series written, directed and produced by Wilson and a team of local talent.

“We get to meet Kansas City’s first superhero with superpowers, the real power is in unity,” Wilson said. “We can only go so far alone or divided, and for us as a city, to get to where we need to be and deserve to be, we must travel there together.”

The “blue carpet” showing of the movie will be held on Saturday, March 25, 6 p.m., at the Gem Theater in the Historic 18th & Vine District Jazz District in Kansas City, Missouri.

The event will be hosted by film critic and executive producer of the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Black Cinema and Television Shawn Edwards and local promotion company 18th & Vine Lives!.

Wilson, a graduate of Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts will also host a post-screening reception with the movie’s cast and creators after the screening

“We want to show Kansas City youth and other creatives that they don’t need to leave Kansas City to make an impact in entertainment,” mentions McGee. “… they can produce great projects right here in their own town and he (Wilson) is proof of that.”

“Victor’s goal is to inspire the youth and filmmakers to showcase their talent in Kansas City and build from there… utilize the people and resources in this city to raise the artistic scene,” adds Edwards.
