RICHARD DAVIS SR.

Wanda C. Bailey died on Friday, April 21, 2023. She was born on September 25, 1939, to the late Robert L. Rich Sr., and Irene Balthrop Rich in Argentine, Kas. She was the eighth of eight children. Robert Jr., James, William, Beverly, Joann, Oliver and Olivia and her grandson, Dontae’ Winn all preceded her in death.

She was educated through the Kansas City, Kas., Public schools, attending Lincoln Elementary, Northeast Junior and Sumner High school.

She was married to the late Rev. Samuel E. Winn Sr., until 1963. Through this union four children were born (Tonya, Tami, Samuel Jr., and Teri)

She was employed at the UMKC School of Dentistry and the Kansas City, Mo., Public School system.

On her Christian journey, she was a member of the St. Paul A.M.E. church and later joining the New Jerusalem Spiritual Church of Christ, where she served as a Mother of the church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Tonya Brown (Marlon), Tami Baker (Daryl), Samuel Winn Jr., and Teri Winn; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one greatgreat

Richard Wesley Davis Sr., 84, died on April 30, 2023, at the St. Luke’s Hospice in Kansas City, Mo..

He was born on July 12, 1938, in Kansas City, Kas., to William Davis Sr., and Susie Davis. He graduated from Lincoln High school in 1958.

He served four years in the Air Force. He retired after 44 years from the U. S. Postal service. He was a member of the Post Office Union. He traveled to different cities as a delegate for the state and national conventions.

Davis Sr., loved to keep his lawn up. He loved to dance and play music, spending time with his Go Long Friends during football season and he loved to keep his vehicles clean.

He was baptized at an early age.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Davis; father, William Davis Sr.; brothers, Michael Davis, Maurice Davis, Ronald Davis, Theodore Davis, Andrew Davis, George Eddy Davis, Bobby Davis, Donald Davis; sisters, Rosalind Davis, Gloria Hernandez; son, Mark Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Davis of 37 years; brothers, Stephen Davis, Bill Davis Jr. (Essie); sisters, Loretta Davis, Patricia Baker, Cynthia Hernandez; sons, Richard Davis Jr. (Brenda), Andre Davis (wife), Vance Robinson, Donnie Rico Robinson; daughter, Melissa Ballard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, co-workers and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Watkins Heritage chapel.

Interment, Brooking cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the chapel.

Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral chapel.
