The KC CALL

KAREN CARTER

NEHEMIAH CLARK JR. ANIYAH WILLIAMS

Karen loved music, dancing, videos and food. She would go to dance classes and learn all the line dances. When the TV came on, she would freeze! Then sing and dance.

She was a hard worker; she always would keep two jobs and two cars. She would rather have more than not enough. She graduated from Van Horn High School class of ’94. Later she took culinary classes, and she worked in the catering/banquet industry.

She was always smiling. You hardly ever caught her without a grin. Her favorite color was “red,” she loved her red lipstick and makeup, but she loved color period.

She has five children and 11 grandchildren who she loved like any other young mother. Even while in the nursing facility she found ways to purchase her family Christmas gifts.

Ms. Carter never married but was open to the opportunity. She loved concerts, live music. She saw Charlie Wilson two or three times. She was always moving on the go. Grass didn’t grow under her feet. She made sure her elderly mother got her weekly request salads like clockwork. She also was a wonderful friend. If she had you had. She was known as KC or Special K.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Michele Carter, her grandmother, Travis Washington; her mother, Idena Carter, she was a loving, fun person, just crazy, protective and full of life.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: two sons of Kansas City, Sheldon Carter and William Carter; three daughters: Mulexis Hankins, Freedom Carter, Michelle Hardy all of Kansas City; her father, Lloyd Carter; two brothers: Michael Carter and Antonio Carter both of Kansas City; 11 grandchildren: Mylin Williams, Messiah Williams, Malachi Williams, Monty Williams, Ly’rical Carter, Airean Carter- Collins, Amerrio Carter-Collins, Ariel Carter-Collins, A’mora CarterCollins, Alena Carter and Aiyanna Williams; a special “Forever Friend “Soul Sister,” Tasha Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends

Aniyah Monèt Williams, 12, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. She was born to Angela Nicole Haywood and Quincy Monte Williams Jr., on August 1, 2010, in Kansas City, Mo.

She most recently attended Barry Middle school in North Kansas City as a 6th grader with her favorite subject being English and Language Arts with teacher, Ms. Shoup. Throughout her short, yet impactful life she partook (some for short spurts) in a host of activities: gymnastics, soccer, track, but most importantly, dance. Aniyah was a dancer of all genres and at any time or place, she’d be down to hit a little jig.

Besides dancing, some of her mostloved past times included: random dates with her PaPa Anthony, swimming with her cousins, spa days, running errands with her Auntie Erika, spending time with her Aunt Nae Nae, skating, an exciting karaoke night (where things can go from 0 to 100 really quick- in the best way), and being in the presence of family and friends. In addition to her given name, she was mainly known as “Niy” and “Niy Pie.”

The connotation of her name is “God was gracious.” Aniyah impacted the lives of so many and was the epitome of love with no conditions. She accepted Christ into her life and proudly encouraged others to join in on her journey.

She is survived by her parents: Angela Haywood and Quincy Williams Jr.; grandparents: (maternal) Anthony and Saundra Haywood, (paternal) Quincy Williams Sr.,
